try using imagery. there was a a really good article in the April/May 2007 Pointe issue. using imagery is a process where you mentally go through a movement. to get your developpe higher, stand in 5th position. then, without actually moving, mentally go through the whole developpe. try to have as much detail as you can as you "watch" the developpe. then try the same thing, only this time "see" your leg going a little higher. then do it one more time "seeing" your leg even a little higher than before. do this 4 or 5 times, and then try the developpe for real. try to feel all the details you "saw" before.

another thing you have to do is, from passe, lift your knee as high as you can and then just straighten your leg, keeping your knee where it is. its hard at first, but it really helps

well, you should lie down and have a friend take your leg (one raised one flat on ground) and press down slowly while slightly moving it to side to side about a 1/2 inch from ordinary position. Strech before like normal before you do it though.. Good luck =D)
work on your grand battements making sure you are lifting with the correct muscles (not your quads, you want to turn it out and lift from there) This will help strengthen those muscles that hold your leg up. Also if you hold your leg up with your hand get it to where you want it and then let go and try to hold it. You really need to work on holding it up, and the more you practice, you'll be able to hold it higher and higher. You just need to build your strength up to match your flexibility.
